Abstract: Based on the dem and for timber sustainable usage in the traditional forestry, the resear chmethods have the features as "mono-discipline" and "from top to bottom". But the development of modern forestry has showed so much new characteristics that the traditional methods can't adapt to the changed demand and have given out more and more latent defects. It is necessary to adjust the traditional methods to develop the modern forestry. We should take new comprehensive methods such as "multi-disciplines", "participation", "three-D" and "from bottom to top" in order to push the forestry sustainable development forward.
